Open to middle schoolers

No bug spray needed—just your imagination! Over eight weeks, we’ll explore the weird and wonderful world of bugs through art and design—creating fabric insects, wearable wings, layered papercrafts, and stop motion animations. We’ll also visit Lamont Gallery in Exeter, NH to explore their bug-themed exhibition. Artwork made in this program will be featured in the NH Art Association’s Fledgling Exhibition in 2026. Let your curiosity take flight as tiny inspirations grow into big-time, bugged-out creations.

About AIR Programs:

  • Open to all teens ages 10-18 who feel like AIR is the right community for them.

  • Open to teens of all artistic abilities and skill levels. No prior experience is required!

  • AIR is free of charge and provides transportation assistance to families in the Greater Seacoast area who need it to access these opportunities.

Youth Theatre Workshop

Millspace is offering a one day youth theatre workshop, on Saturday October 18th, for kids aged 9 to 14.

Attendees will be guided in creating original characters, through the technique of mask-work, in a fun, low-pressure environment. We'll end the day with a short showcase, to display the newly created characters, and all attendees will leave with a self-created mask! 

Whether you’re new to theatre, or a Broadway Baby, this workshop has a spot for you. Expect improv, games, and the chance to create something new in the company of other young artists. This program is hosted by local actors and theatre educators, Katherine Cusack and Leslie Pasternack.

Millspace Mainstage presents Arthur Miller’s Tony Award winning drama The Crucible. Based on the Salem witch trials, director Katelin Garland plans to bring a modern dystopian take on the piece with the question, how far would you go?

WHO: We are looking for strong, dramatic performers of any ethnicity, as young as 18 and reaching up into the 70s. We are looking for who will best fit the role. People of all genders can and will be considered for any role but please note that roles will be portrayed as written. Please check out the character descriptions in the audition call above, especially if you are interested in a specific role.

*Please note, the character of Tituba has already been cast.

WHEN: Saturday August 9th from 2pm-6pm, sign-up genius link for in person auditions below. Invited callbacks will be held Sunday August 10th, from 1pm-5pm. If you’re unable to make callbacks, videos will be accepted on the 10th until 10pm. In person attendance at callbacks is highly encouraged. Tentative read through date Tuesday August 19th.

WHERE: Millspace Center for Art, History and Culture - Newmarket NH

WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare a predetermined side based on character interest OR a 60-90 second dramatic monologue of your choosing. Memorization is encouraged but not mandatory. You may be asked to read another side at your audition, do not feel as though you need to memorize each side.

If you are unable to attend in person, you may submit a video audition through the Google form. Whether in person or video submission, please make sure to fill out the Google form below.

PERFORMANCES: The Crucible will run two weekends from October 31st through to November 9th. Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, and Sunday Matinees at 2pm. A total of 6 performances.

Big ideas take center stage on Friday, May 23, as the Millspace hosts Small Talk, Big Ideas, a microtalk event spotlighting local visionaries. The event immediately follows the opening reception for State of Mine, an exhibit challenging artists to capture the spirit of the Granite State. The gallery reception begins at 6:30 PM and is free and open to the public. "Small Talk" ticket holders get to vote for the winner of the "State of Mine" art prize. The microtalks start at 8 PM. All proceeds to benefit the Lamprey Arts and Culture Alliance and the Wentworth Cheswill Historical Monument Fund.

Newmarket Cemetery Restoration Day Celebration

Please join us at the Millspace to celebrate the first ever Newmarket Cemetery Restoration Day! Everyone from the public is invited to join us for a fun night of food and history. The Newmarket Historical Society will give an exciting presentation on Pickering Cemetery and the family’s lives during the American Revolution.

Eat, mingle, and spend next week impressing your peers with your local history knowledge! Attendance is free, though donations to the Newmarket Historical Society are appreciated!

You can also donate in the form of a lovely Cemetery Day shirt or sweater by searching for “Newmarket Cemetery Restoration Day 2025” on www.bonfire.com.   

And if you want an even more tangible connection with Newmarket history, please consider volunteering with us to clean up Pickering Cemetery and Burley Cemetery, which are both overgrown and in need of some serious TLC. Volunteers will help by mowing cemetery lawns, pruning branches, pulling up invasive plants, and raking and bagging brush. Cleanup starts at 9 AM, May 17, at Pickering Cemetery, located near 157 Ash Swamp Road, Newmarket. Once work at Pickering is done, we will then work on Burley Cemetery, near 10 Bald Hill Road, Newmarket.
